Cabby dash squeak advice

Post

Hi anyone ever fixed a squeaking dashboard when driving? It's doing my head in, also have a  loose knee bar and think that could be part of the issue rubbing with dash?

Get some 1/2" (not meteric friendly)tall and 1/4 inch wide self sticky closed cell foam from a hardware store, and place between the kneebar and the bottom of the dash, loosen the knee bar and push it against the dash then tighten the nuts and bolts.

If you Push the dash forward and it stops then you need to fix the clips at the windscreen.  Usually tightening the clips, I have taken it so far as to use a smally piece of felt in the jaws to tighten them a wee bit and to give it a vibration dampner.

The Fascia mounts if broken can cause the Fascia to squeak.  I have had the screw points break and it rattles a wee bit.  On my Cabriolet I have some how to's in the Archive section that deals with broken fascia mounts on my Cabriolet.

My radio makes the dash squeak as i have yet to fit the rubber grommet that goes into the hole in the rear of the dash.
Also as said before check the dash is screwed in properly, there is a screw that goes above where the radio hole is, mine is missing and the dash moves back and forwards there.
All on my list of things to do.

I have found that a #2 Phillips bit in a 1/4 small socket and a ratchet with a finger spinner works really great on that screw.
