Basically,,  Probably easiest is to get stub axle, disc and bearing assy from a mk 2 golf. Use the alloy calipers from a mk4 golf as they should be in better condition than old mk2 golf items. For h/brake cables, some use mk2 golf items, these come in 2 lengths, cannot say which ones to use as i have not done it. Some use 16v scirrocco (old one) h/brake cables.

Changing the rear brakes to disc and calipers will not improve the braking performance, if the rear shoes are properly adjusted (automatic adjust sometimes needs some help) the drums will perform just as well as discs….

Rear discs are really just a cosmetic change for a Mk1…

Irrespective of performance, drums are rubbish, they look awfull and you have to disturb the wheel bearing everytime you want to work on them. Obviously if that dosnt matter to you, keep them..

I'd recommend changing out the solid front discs for the vented ones first off. You could also get adapters to fit larger 256mm vented discs with your calipers from Epytec.
