I've decided that I'm going to dismantle mine completely and get them powder coated. After talking to my powder coating chap, he said he's always struggled to get a finish he is happy with when they are still hinged.
When it comes to reassembly I'm either going to use semi tubular rivets (that is what is used originally) or these - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283779145629?_trksid=p2380057.m570.l5999&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI283779145629.N36.S2.typeWATCH_ITEM_ENDING_SOON.R2.TR4 I'm struggling to find the right length rivets unless I want 1000 of them!

I asked this question recently. General response was either spray them, or powder coat - all about how much you want to spend.
