Evening all. Over the past few years I have been rebuilding my mk1 gti cab. I have the standard 1.8 8v lump but am having issues getting it running. I think I may have various electrical  plugs in wrong places. Any members with a runner in North Wales so I can have a look and cross reference. Thanks in advance.

Post up some pictures and I'm sure we can tell what's wrong ?

Taking pictures and labels on wires/connections helps a lot when refitting stuff.
I've loads of pictures from when I removed my engine etc I can send/share if no one near you or loads on here and google etc…

Electrical Systems

Occasionally I can remember things or book mark them .  :) . Great info there thanks Rub.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Hi all. Right there are 2 plugs that go into idle speed boost valve. I have pictured below wire colours which have been extended by previous owner. Which one goes where please

Your 5th injector (blue coloured) is the wrong way up, the electrical connection should be on the bottom.

Your idle control valve is also the wrong way up, undo the 2 nuts on top of the rubber bushes and flip it over, you may need to re route the rubber hoses.

I found the hardest thing getting the engine back in was working out the order and routes for the cables and hoses….

If you have a look at my project page towards bottom of page 1 you can see what I mean…

I'll have a look at my electrical connection in a bit.

Pictures..
Idle control valve

5th injector

I’m not sure where your other wires are on your engine so the next couple of pictures may not help??

Some sort of switch attached to the throttle body

Thermo time switch on front coolant flange which tells the 5th injector to fire.

Let me know if you need any other pictures….
