1.8 EX petrol break down no spark PLEASE HELP ME?!

Post

I had problems with fuel starvation before, I couldn't get my sender unit loose before it was stuck so I disconnected all the fuel lines and blew them out and it fixed the issue, it used to cut out after a few minutes and take a few minutes to get fuel again, since then I've replaced the filler neck & fuel filter and the other night I had been driving for around 40 miles then it bogged down and cut out 2 minutes from my house! Was on a slight hill, then started up again after a couple of minutes, with my new filler neck this hose back to the top doesn't seem to fit on, could this cause an airlock/cutting out??  image.jpeg

rubjonny You're a wizard and help to countless vw people! I bridged the earth side of my coil to ground and it started straight up and drove home with no issues, what do you or anyone reading make of this? The earth spade & connector are quite corroded do you think that's my issue? I'm paranoid the distributor hall sensor or something else is being hidden by this possible red herring?! I bought and plugged in a new tci before this and it made no difference, do you recommend any resistance/continuity checks etc? image.jpeg   image.jpeg

Fix that pipe to your fuel filler neck ASAP or water and dirt will get into your fuel system.
To make it easier it fit trim the end where is is squashed and get some boiling water in a cup place the end of the hose into the water and wait a few minutes as this should soften the hose so it slides on easy, don't forget to fit a jubilee clip first.

I'm doing an oil service and a few bits on it tonight so hopefully can get it on properly then, cheers for the tip!

A little smear of grease on the filler neck may also help. :-)

Got plenty done tonight at work, fitted proper connector to broken earth wire, oil service (all genuine parts & castrol oil), tightening my aux belt after 100 miles on a new one & checked my ignition timing, got that pipe sorted too, cut a couple of slits in the end & a bit of bmw silicone spray (AMAZING stuff, I call it magic spray…) and it poped straight on there, with a nice bmw jubilee clip to finish!  image.jpeg image.jpeg

Good to see you got that hose fitted, is it a special BMW clip because it always want to get in front of you and drive in the outside line of the motorway?

Old one but make me laugh…   :offtopic: Extract from a BMW Drivers Journal
"The other day I was cruising along as usual coming onto one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars. First off, I couldn't believe that the volume of traffic DIDN'T slow down for me AT ALL as I came off the
slip road! I had to squeeze into a barely big enough gap between two cars in order to get onto my motorway! (The driver of the car behind me did realise his mistake though and honked an apology to me with a long blast of his horn.) Unbelievably, I had to do the same again before I could get to the BMWlane. (Why do underlings use this lane? Surely everyone knows it is for BMW drivers only?)
Anyway, once I was in the BMW lane and posing along at 110mph enjoying
the adulation that the inferior car drivers were giving me, I noticed an inferior car ahead of me which was not only in the BMW lane of my motorway, but was driving at a ridiculous 70 mph! Naturally, I got to within a 20 foot or so of his rear bumper and flashed my headlights to remind him he shouldn't be in the BMW lane of my motorway and to get out of my way. Of course, once he realised it was a BMW behind him, he did just that, but I could hardly believe it when he pulled straight back out behind me! He also tried to keep up with me and when he realised I would out-run him, he put on some blue lights in his front grill and urged me to get onto the hard shoulder so that he could congratulate me on my excellent car.
Needless to say, I was eager to oblige and when we had stopped, the man gave me a piece of paper confirming what I already knew - that my car goes fast!
Apparently he wants everyone to know what a superior car I have, so I had to take my driver's licence to a Police Station to be sent away to have some points put on! (They're not free points either - they're £20 each and I was only allowed 3). But the man at the Police Station said that because I drive a BMW, it won't be much longer before I earn the full 12 points, and then I won't even NEED a driving license, so they will take it off me!
See, now that's the sort of respect you get when you buy and drive a BMW!"

Yeah I would love a ramp/lift like that, better than lying on the floor underneath the car, I have up graded and now have a piece of cardboard to lye on instead of the cold hard floor.  :(
