Which car?, What car?
currently my everyday car is a 99 honda accord type r (im so sorry ) had it arround 2 years now and fancy somthing else, would like a vw but open to suggestions i've got arounf ?7000 to spend, just for the record i have a 76' golf and 81 scirocco storm
the cars i'm considering VR6 corrado - the legend, Lupo GTi - still remeber my first drive in one they rock!!!!
I know your going to say mk1 but i need somthing more reliable (you know what i mean, somthing alittle easier to live with everyday)
Don't do much motorway miles, drive like stig most the time, sorry try to drive like the stig

If you want reliabilty forget the Corrado and spend the money on a newer car like the Lupo or similar Toyota/Skoda/Honda which are always near the top in the reliability surveys.

The Corrado VR6 and Lupo GTi are very different cars and have very different running costs so I don't see how you can compare them.

Seat Leon Cupra Type R. WOW!!! Goes like…………..handles really well and runs off a VW1.8GTI block! my mate bought one with 21K on the clock for 12.5K a year ago so 7K will get you one now. Second hand cars dont sell anymore unless they're gonna appreciate - like the MK1!

2. BMW M3 (e36)
3. Seat Ibiza Cupra R? (mk3)
4. Renault clio 172/182
5. Skoda octavia VRS
Very different cars all can be had for 7k with various mileage/condition.
It really does depend what sort of motor you are after.
If your used to hondas and drive like the stig everywhere you will love the integra type r! Reliable, quick if a little noisy on the motorway. Worth the compromise I say. The guy I bought my golf off now has a type r teg. He's Oli on here see if you can speak to him. There is an owners club too.
I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday

you know what volkswagen are all about with your other fine VW machinery so go for the character, investment and power and go for the Vr6 corrado!
ok lupo gtis are all good and other cars mentioned but they havent got character or investment, my raddo turns heads and raises comments, from fellow dubbers or more mature folk that are alot older than me and remember when they were the car to have back in the early 90's!

Forget the rest i owned a well sorted Integra Type R for over 2 years and it was one of the best cars i have ever had the pleasure to drive (and i have driven a lot) i also enjoyed many track days in it as well 8) it is very difficult to explain unless you have owned one  I also had the Accord Type R but only kept it 3 months and bought another Integra

I had one for a while and didnt give me any trouble at all,but to be fair it was a 16v.
The only downside to the vr6 is mpg.Corrado handles great and is still quite a rare car.For that sort of money you could find a club member one thats had alot of money and time spent on it.
Boyfriend had a vr6 golf with induction kit on.OOH what a lovely noise when you put your foot down!! Its worth buying just for that.

I didn't have any probs with my VR6 in 3 years of ownership. I think like any older performance car they just need to be maintained well and they will continue to be reliable.jess said

I had the standard airbox on my C VR6 modified but still with the standard K&N panel filter inside. Boy did it sound good The only other car I've had that came close to sounding as good was an old V8 range rover with straight through exhausts 8)Boyfriend had a vr6 golf with induction kit on.OOH what a lovely noise when you put your foot down!!
