That has got to be the tidyest one I've ever seen/will ever see.

You lucky bugger Walt (not jealous AT ALL)

I've noticed it has EXACTLY the same battery as in my Mk1 Campaign (comes with 3 years warranty I believe).

I agree with AL_Mk1 "That alternator is a bit dirty"

Sort it out Walt

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

Dirty alternator!

Ah now you see fellas! The dirt has been left on purpose! It is this dirt/waxoil which has kept it this good for so long! I only have one regret!! When I first bought it the brakes were poop so I put brembo discs and ebc pads on the front! I tidied up the front calippers with a wire brush and silver paint! It was just after this that I started to discover just how special this car might actually be! I kicked myself because until I threw the old drake discs and pads away, I actually had the whole car as from factory (except for battery, oil, filters and brake fluid!) Wish I had kept them now! So now my mission is to keep this car protected! I'm not going to compromise a single component on this car just to please a judge at a show! Cleaning the engine bay may look good for a while but as I'm sure you will agree it's not doing bad for 12 years!
Thanks for all your interest in this car, I love it and waited a long time to find it! All the credit goes to it's previous owner! I feel a little guilty sometimes because most of you guys have been dedicated to the cause for so long and then someone turns up from nowhere with this! Well up to now I have had some Rivage stickers made exactly the same as the ones on my car so there is a supply for future paint job's not only for myself but others too (at a small charge of course!) There are other pictures on this site of the full engine bay etc for reference for others to use when rebuilding or maintaining their own! I have brochures and buyers guide which I can send photographs of on request! So even though I am a stuffy b**&^rd I am trying to help the cause and not show off too much! It lives in my garage now where I put a small radiator just to keep the room from being cold, so dont worry guys it should survive for a long time! Cheers….Walt!

Concours quality dirt that is, genuine stuff too, from 1992!

I'd keep it exactly as it is to be honest. Excessive cleaning can negate a bit of the charm and it's very hard to maintain and can be more trouble than it's worth….

Cheers,

Drew.

Agree - my C's engine is filthy as the road dirt has stuck to waxoyl and engine oil over the years, but there's not a hint rust in the inner wings, turrets, bulkhead e.t.c. Was going to clean it up when I first got it, but decided the geasey muck was protecting the metal… althought it could be holding it together  .

Cheers
