I want to replace the clear glass out of the Mars Red GTI with the green tinted glass from the Lhasa green one I am breaking. Simple to cut the rubbers but don't want to do this obviously.
I shall make enquiries anyway but if anyone knows how to do it without suffering the same fate as Mr Gti then please let me know  .

The sound of breaking glass springs to mind.

Putting it back is the problem, I?ve done Minis before on my own but they had a chrome strip in the seal that gives you a bit of play until you insert it after the window is fitted.
I got a professional to put all the glass back in the GTI as he was also supplying the new front screen and he struggled a lot so I?m glad I wasn?t doing it! The rear quarters and hatch glass seemed a lot more difficult than the front screen.

Putting them back in isn't too bad, you need some strong but fairly thin electrical wire (thats what I used) or string. Definately need to people for that. You can apply a fair bit of pressure to the outside while someone inside is pulling the wire/string, so the inner rubber lip is being lifted over the window seam.
As for tooling, I made up a kind of wooden pallet knife style thing, wider than a screwdriver and safe!! Works a treat.

two people is always better but you can do it on your own removal is best with two one inside using their feet (clean trainers are best) and one ouside to catch - always push near the edges
This sounds extreme but works well with out cutting the rubbers
Yes the price is right in fact i've managed to get it cheeper still by ringing around ?65 inc glass 'n fitting but + VAT same for plain and tinted glass.
i'm getting plain as thats how my car left the factory i know its not concourse but nice to keep it original.
