HELP !!! Which Wheels for my 88 GTi Cab ???

HELP ME PLEASE !!!

I'm in a massive quandry about what to do with the wheels on my dearly beloved 88 GTi Cabriolet, keep the originals or Le Castlellets, as on a Rivage ???

The car is in wonderful (expensive restoration) condition, and is 100% original aside from a switch to Mohair roof and hidden Nav Trak satellite tracking system but sadly its original wheels are now starting to show their age (aren't we all).

Ideally I'd like to get them refurbished but as they are factory powder coated in Helios Blue on the inner rim, inner spokes and dished centres (see 3rd pic) I've been told they can't be done the same way again… Or I've been quoted a stupendously expensive price….

As a result I'm considering a switch to polished Le Castellets and with a bit of Photoshop tweaking have done the switch to compare and now can't decide which I prefer :-/

Please let me know your considered opinions as to which looks best, am wanting to keep the car as original as possible so am not considering any aftermarket wheels or changes in Rim size.

Cheers & thanks in advance for your valued thoughts.

Nick

I really like polished castellets (I'm about to fit a set to my GTI Cab) but I have to say your GTI looks great on the original wheels. I saw an identical car to yours a couple of weeks ago which had its wheels refurbished and it looked stunning so I say stick with originality 8)

i say stick with the originals mate. A set of 9 spokes would like nice too, but I am a big fan of nine spokes.

The polished wheels look best, however i think you should consider buying Chef's polished Design 90's cos they would look amazing with the car sat real low!!

 But only my opinion :D

I have the originals the same as you. there are painters out there that will refurb them as you want. However saying that i am changing mine to Pslots! They both look good so get them refurb'd and change evry other week - thus saving rubber!

Thanks all for your thoughts so far…

I agree with the consensus that originality is by far the best option - so am gonna refurb them when I find someone suitable in Yorkshire (I'm in Leeds).

Think I might go for some Polished Castellets as well though, as it does look sweet on them too - could have a summer and winter wheel thing going on !!!

Cheers
