HELP ME PLEASE............

I've been a bit of an idiot  :banghead:
Was tarting up my golf last weekend and put a coat of wax on it. Unfortunately i did not mask the window rubbers or the plastic trim.
(can you gues what's coming)
So I came out to it the other night and found that I had not taken the wax off the trim properly and so now have white marks all over my trim and window rubbers.
Am taking it to Santa Pod at the weekend and don't want it looking like a plasterers radio!!!!
Have been told meths might take it off but would this damage the paintwork?  :dontknow:  Sat outside for about 1.5 hours last night scrubbing with hot soapy water but to no avail.
WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE HELP

back to black or similar on a rag should do the trick, to make it even more effective you can use a brilo pad but be careful on the window rubbers and the paint work

Wooooooooah! Not sure I like the words "brillo pad" when talking about getting a lovely finnish on a car! If you are to have a go at the bumpers and such like, I would be more inclined to try one of those sponges with the white non scratch scrub sides, specially designed for use on non stick pans! You can get them from Morrisons for next to nothing!
Any kind of bumper dressing should do it, I like the autoglym or mer gel type stuff! Best of luck!  :)

  Thats what I meant, not one of those metal ones, sorry should have been more clear.

Yes a Brilo style pad with the white backing not the scratchy metal one, the nice 'woolie' bit gets in the texture of the bumper and arches quite well.

Walt probably uses them straight out of the wrapper on his car, and then when they're a little worn, uses it for the dishes!

I know this is going to sound weird but… PEANUT butter!!

I had this same problem and was told that peanut butter gets rid of any white marks on the black trim.

Apparantly, theres something in peanut oil that cleans it off. I raided my kitchen and found a bottle of peanut oil, scrubbed it in with a cloth and it worked wonders!!

Worth a try… do a little test first just in case!  :D

I'll bear that in mind. If my bulk heads start swelling and my air box becomes blocked I'll run it down to my local dealer ASAP

The way it works is that 300 squirrels come and lick every inch of your car for you! The combination of squirrel spit and the frenzied buffing of their soft under belly fur, brings your car to a lusterous, streak free shine!

…..WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?…… 8O

Thanks for all the help guys tried all your advice (incl a little bit of peanut butter) and found the best thing was good old fashioned elbow grease. Didn't get as much done as I'd planned as it took me 3hours to change the brakes on the Mazda. Nobody told me you had to wind the rear piston in!! doh
Didn't make it to Santa Pod yesterday either which is a shame. I hear there werne't many orignal MK1's there so mine would have stood out.

Off to the body shop today for a touch up prob won't see it for 2-3 weeks. Am very sad.
