GTi finally rolling after 2 year resto..

Hey all!

For those of you who know me you'll remember me talking about "My Green Gti" that nobody has actually ever seen, other than me and the various people that have helped with the resto..

Anyways, she's now Taxed and Tested and driving beautifully! I picked her up from my dads last night and drove gently back to my house about 70 miles away. I've got to take it easy as the new engine has only done about 60 miles and needs careful bedding-in.

The drive was fantastic! There are of course a few things that still need sorting out (Some of which I was fixing today - see my thread in the resto section) but its really really nearly there!

The car felt so tight and new, even though there is a door seal missing and the sunroof cover hasn't yet been fitted! The new gear bushes have transformed the shift quality and thanks the the 16v servo and uprated disks it even stops! (Well, slows down - I need to bed-in these components, too).

I wasn't expecting the car to do so well on its first outing. If i'm honest, I was half-expecting to break down on the way back, but no - she went beautifully

I'm hoping it gets a bit of approval tomorrow night at the meet, but if not, never mind.

Roll on the summer and further tinkering!
