Ford Focus 2 litre Ghia cuts out

My 2001 Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia, after filling up with petrol, cut out today at about 40mph around 5 minutes later. The ignition would not start again for a further 5 minutes. The car then drove for 30miles before the same problem developing. The dashboard lights become illuminated and the engine cuts out and brakes come on (possibly) bringing the vehicle to an abrupt halt.

Anyone with any ideas as to what this problem may be????

Think you need to take it to a Ford Garage or a specialist with a diagnostic tool to plug in seems like it could be fuel filter problem not keen on the brakes coming on on their own if thats what you are saying needs looking at ASAP if you ask me.
