Testing for cold starting
It takes forever to start. I have to play with the gas peddle and when it does start it takes a few minutes to clear itself out. After that it runs great.
So I got a hold of a Bentley manual. But it only goes to 79' not 81. I did some of the cold start valve testing. Nothing at all comes out of it. I am thinking Thermotime switch as well. But I do not have a way to test that circuit. If I pull the plug from the thermotime switch and place a jumper in that, will that allow the CSV to operate? Or am I backwards on that line of thought?
I suppose the purchase of an ohm meter would be a wise investment as well.
I have a test light and placed both ends into the plug and did not get a lit bulb. I did the same for the plug on the CSV and still nothing. Perhaps I am doing it wrong. This is a vehicle that had sat for 10 years until resurected about a year ago. The previous owner got it running well again. It just has this cold start issue.
Like I said b4, once its running, it runs great.
Any thoughts are well appreciated.
Thanks

Cold Start Valve can be tested by removing the valve from the inlet manifold, pulling a wire from the coil, then turning the car over. You'd physically see the mist of fuel. This tests that the thermotime switch, wiring, fuel delivery and injector itself, all in one.
The other component which helps with cold starting, is the warm up regulator. You'd need a fuel pressure testing kit to test this properly.
