Basic i know but is the guage showing the right quantity of fuel remaining ? Do you have 1/4 tank when she cuts out are you certain its not empty ? If not you may have a pick up pipe problem in the tank this  can happen with pattern tanks , you may have to remove the back seat whip out the fuel sender unit and use a torch to check the pick up pipe , it collects the fuel next to the filter on the right of the tank when you look in .

Haynes manual has a good section on the sender unit removal so read that first

Good luck please post back when sorted or not as the case may be …Chudd out….

volkylee,

Had the exact same problem with my cab.  Ran it down to 1/4 tank and the started missing and running badly.  Limped to petrol station and refilled - problem went away. I thought it might have been a sender issue and the car was empty.

I removed the fuel pump, filter and accumulator and found water in them.  I drained down the tank and got some water out also.

My filler neck is fine so can only assume bad petrol.

When i put it all back together problem had gone. So i presume it was a water issue.  Recommend draining down the tank - it will self siphon pretty well from the fuel pump pipe, take off parts and get any water out and blow through the fuel lines.

Can run it down to empty now with no problems - well as far as the bottom of the red!

Cheers
