Yellow and White plugs from engine bay to Fuse Box (1600)

I'm trying to work out my engine bay looms for a 1.6 carb engine and I'm having a bit of trouble.
Firstly - On the white a yellow plugs.  Which pin is pin 1?  Has anyone got a diagram with pin outs from the fuse box or the back of these connectors?

I've got all the colours of the wires written down and managed to label a couple in the engine bay but I'm pretty stumped at the minute.

Only ones I've worked out really is the radiator fan  What I'm left with now is a couple of handfuls of wiring with connectors.
Any help would be great.
Cheers
Baz

correction.

Yes I had a look through it but it doesn't tell me where the wires from the back of the plugs go to.

I saw your thread.  It looked like it was exactly the same loom.
I'll get a few pics up of what I've got left over and you can let me know what they are.

Here's all the wires coming from the loom from the white plug at the back of the fuse box.  Ignore the masking tape.  I wrapped a few bits round so I could label them when I worked them out.  Any help would be good because other than about 2 plugs I'm lost.

First picture
blue wire is oil pressure switch for warning light on dash

yellow wire is oil pressure switch for buzzer in dash

yellow and red - (behind the other yellow) is water temp for dash gauge

black wire with plugs is (what i believe to be) the manifold heating element.

next pic

red/black wire going to H plug - is rev counter signal

pink/black and black wire sharing plug is the same wire i refer to in my other thread - i am not sure on this … Chudd has replied to my other thread - have a read

next pic

red/black wire is the switched live to the starter - turn the key starter works

the black wire beside it - the other end of it should share that terminal with white/pink wire i referred to earlier…. the end in that pic goes to other terminal on starter (lower terminal)

next pic

i think the big black rubber plug on right is for your fan and the other two wires for your radiator thermostat. usually located bottom left (battery side) of radiator

last pic i think must be some type of thermal sensor for cold starting/fuelling or something - unsure

hope that is of some use… it may not be accurate as i haven't started mine yet!! :D

That should be a great help to get me sorted.  There's no way this thing will start first time anyway but at least it'll have a fighting chance if it's wired properly.

I bumbling my way through this frustrated that my engine doesn't look like anything in any of my diagrams.  Here's a few pics I took tonight.  I managed to get a couple of wires connected but i'm still very much in the dark.

Not surprized friend .

Have you looked at Haynes manual diagram ? And tried to trace wire by colour type ? What are those labels for ?

If not if you tell me colour wire you have i could look for you .

Have you seen this post ? Should get a few more off your list .

I'll try and make out a diagram tonight with colours and all the wires labelled.  The labels are just pieces of masking tape i put on so I could write what they are when I find out.  Most are blank.
I've tried the haynes manual and even the vw 1976 workshop manual to see what I could find but not an awful lot seems to match up.
My engine just seems to be a thrown together job by the previous owner so it's been one long journey of mismatched parts and confusing pipes and wiring.

Carbs4ever gave me a good list of what each connector should be but unfortunately some of the parts when i went to look just didn't match up or where not there at all.  That's why I've included pics of the coil, carb, and basically everything else in the bay.  I'm not a wiring expert by any stretch of the imagination but if I had a half clue as to what the hell the looms were from and why they don't match my 1600 engine I'd at least have a headstart.
On the yellow and white connectors how do I know what pin is pin number 1?  This is the question I'd like answered the most as it would allow me to identify a few wires from old diagrams.

MS PAINT STRIKES!!!!!!

You'd think with me being a web developer and working with photoshop all the time I could rustle up something better. I'm too tired and just couldn't be bothered so here it is.  This is the wiring with all the main mystery parts.

Your a legend Chudd.
I'm going to sound like a total dummy now but could you point out the 2 oil pressure switches in my pictures and there's 2 wires going to the coil but what connector is what?  I think they may be numbered on the coil?

These two wires would be connected on one connector should be maked poz + [piggy backed] other wire on the coil comes from the Distributer marked - .

Oil wires ?   :D I can see them in the fist picture next to the Dizzy .

Cool
So I have wires 7 and 8 correct?  But my query is really about connector 6 to the high pressure switch.  Where is it?
