Rear lights wiring

Could someone tell me what wire goes where on both side please? The old lights were wired in arseways and now i'm stuck.
I've now got the crystal lights (clear on top, red on bottom)

What exactly do you want? I could get some pics if you wanted. 

Which wire goes where?
E.g; The green and gray wire goes to the indicator.

The old set of lights were wired up wrong and i haven't got a clue where to start on either side.

Always a fun job cleaning up someone else's mess.

1991 J reg.
GTi Floppy top.

i also could do with some help on this, just decided to wire up my lights i dismantled 5 years ago and have no idea where the wires go

i know:

green/black - indicator
black - live ?
brown - earth
red/grey - ?
red/black ?

i do not have a big plastic connector just single connectors

pics would be very usefull.

According to my Haynes manual. Black -Reverse light
Black & Red - brake light
Red&Grey - tail light

If you want to know the wiring order on the plugs just let me know.

I'm having the same issue please can someone take a photo of the connectors for rack of the tail lights showing the wire colours as some of mine have been cut and I don't exactly know where they should be going. Also I have a long grey wire that looks like it links both lights together?

Knowing the year and model or your automobile makes it a wee bit easier for us to look up the wiring in the Haynes or Bentley…. as I am not going to look at the differences between the  76-84 wiring I like looking for specific years and model types.

Year is 82 Gti 

Managed to get most of it working now except still no reverse or fog lights
