Mk1 cabby wash wipe - any known faults???

Hello all, I have a mk1 g-reg gti cabby whose wash wipe windscreen refuses to work although the wipers do work it simply wont spray any water or move the wipers when you pull back on the wiper stalk……does anyone know if there is a known issue with this and a means to fix it (just looked for auto-electricians and its looking expensive) I've replaced the water bottle motor but my skills end there…….many thanks for any replies…

Had the same problem and had tried the same fix.
In the end changed the stork which solved the problem (even tho wipers still worked with it)

Had the same problem. As above, just got the stalk/switch changed.

my cabby was doing this untill yesterday!! pullerd on the stalk and nothing happened, wipers worked fine when the stalk was lifted but not when pulled, all i did was:
remove steering wheel
remove cowling around column
remove stalks
clean and adjust washwipe contacts on stalk control
refit in reverse order!!

as above was caused by dirty and bent washer contacts. i didnt need to remove the wheel or stalks though, once the cowling was removed i could see the contacts on the side. quick buff up and a little bending and all was well :)
