instrument back lights.

 hi. i wonder if any 1 can help? ive an 89 cab and the instruments and indication leds all work, but there is no back light to the cluster. ( the bulbs r fine).

I had a similar problem when I got my Caddy. Turned out to be a bad connection where the ribbon cable plugs into the edge connector of the cluster. Waggling it about made them come on. If I can decipher my Haynes manual wiring diagram correctly its line 1 and is gr/bl which should be grey and blue. Check you are getting 12v with a multimeter when the switch is on.

You are correct!

Also if this doesn't solve I think can sometimes be the dimmer switch for the panel lighting

thanks both. it was a dodgy connection on the ribbon after. working fine now thanks.
