I have the same problem I think - indicator/hazard lamp on dashboard is permanently dim green and indicators don't work but hazards do work.
when the hazards work the lamp on the dash flashes bright green as normal but reverts to dim green when I turn hazards off.
given this should I not bother replacing the hazard switch to try and fix my problem?

The Turns, and hazards have separate fuses.
The indicator shouldn't be glowing at all.
Now make sure that on the Back side of the 4-way switch are 2 bare wires, these bare wires have the connector uninsulated. I have take over the years to use a piece of heat shrink over the bare connector.
If you have have, aftermarket…. then you could have a back feed issue on the after market Turns…. I would start by removing the connector for the turn and see if it resolves the issue first.
