Electrical fire.

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had advice for my brother - he basically bought a Golf GTI Sportsline cabriolet a few weeks ago and after he got the electric windows reconnected there was an electrical fire behind the dash which has basically written off the car!.

The damage is soley around the dashboard area and, as my brother loves his Golf so much, he has decided to restore the car but needs advice on where to get the parts for this from. It basically needs a new dashboard and all the clocks etc. and all the wiring behind the dash will have to be done again.

So, any help anyone can give me on where to get the parts from and the best practices to fix this I - and my brother - would greatly appreciate it.

Kind Regards,

Jamie.

Thanks everyone. If anyone does have a loom then I would be very interested…

Also a new dash would be nice as well!.

I your opinions, should this be easy enough to do?. I could send pics of the damage if anyone really wants to see it but it really just is the dashboard, everything else is fine.

Once again, thanks for all you help.

Work out what caused the fire - you don't want another one!

Did he use the correct fuse and relay set up?

Thanks...

Thanks Rich - I will certainly have a look!. Will probably be in touch with you very soon.

Not sure what caused the fire but myself and my brother noticed the fuses were all over the place compared to the manual we had showing what fuses should be where - the only change that was done was the electric windows were connected.

I also have a Peugot 205 GTI to get back on the road, but that is another story…

Cheers!.
