Cabby electric hood controls - help
Hi,
Trying to sort out a few niggles with the cabby sportline we have bought.
Hi,
The switch to operate the hood is on the side of the center console and it opeates the hood with the ignition on and the engine running, is this correct behaviour ? The switch looks like a bodge to me, as it looks like the original facia plate has been cut short and bodged into the side of the console. There are som naff unconnected 50mm gauges in the center console.
Please can someone give me a run down on the correct hood operation and where the switch should really be.
Moving around the back it appears that the pump/motor has been replaced at sometime because although it is VW and looks like the one in the cabby buying guide it is longer and does not fit between the mount points, any one come across this before ? It works well but is only secured by a single nut on one of the mounting pins.
There is also a couple of dangling wires with spade connectors, both halves are there, I am reluctant to connect them back together in case it breaks something else, the wires are blue and yellow, any ideas, I suspect that they are something to do with the hood operating even when the engine is running.

the switch sould be in the front of the centre console, if you have electric windows the switch for the roof should be inbetween them and once the catches of the hood released insert the key in the ignition switch,do not switch ignition on (for safety reasons Vw have done it that way so you cant drive and put the roof down) press and hold the switch until the covertable top is completely open . This is the way the roof should operate. hope this helps
also with the rest hope the diagram may help

Thanks guys for the information - it has helped a lot.
So the switch is bodged and some how the wiring has been changed to allow the roof to operate even when the engine is running :-(
I have ordered a Bentley manual with the hope that it has a wiring diagram in it so that I can get my multimeter out to trace the wiring.
Gonna be looking for a new panel with the roof and window switches in it - let me know if you hear of one going for sale.
I really need to replace the center console as well and some idiot has cut a hole in the side of it for the roof switch
