alternator light wont go out

hi there - can anyone shed any light on why my alternator light wont go out?
it has now had all the wiring checked by the rac and is o.k and i have put a new alternator and battery on but something is wrong with the wiring somewhere?
i am told by people there should be a fuse or relay for the alternator but i can find no mention in the haynes or on the car?
the battery only reads about 12.2 when running and then gradually drops with usin the car until there is not enough to start it?
there is a blue wire coming straight off the plus terminal going to the alternator loom which when disconnected put the light out?
seems as though the light has a permanent feed once the key is turned?
car is a 1.3 carb by the way.
there are two thick red wires coming out of the alternator which go to a ring terminal attached to the mounting bolt at the top of the starter motor?
is this correct?
thanks in advance. :banghead:

there is no fuse/relay for the alternator. the blue wire is there to turn the warning light out. was it a new alternator??? try swopping the regulator pack on the back of the alternator
