throttle cable too long

Hi all, I have replaced the throttle cable and it seems a touch too long in that I have adjusted it to the max and I still can't get to full throttle position.

Help please….. it's a 50bhp, I need all the ponies I can get!
1980 Series 1 GTI (gone now .. what a mistake selling her!)
1979 Series 1 LD - the Mandarin Dragon … gone as well. oh dear.
