Bonnet catch bolts/vin plate

Post

image.png I want to change the lower bonnet catch for a new one and prep & paint the front slam panel whilst it's out, changing the rad switch aswell so could just drop the all out and paint inside aswell, has anyone used these bolts to replace the rivets and could they do the same job in the vin plate or am I better off leaving that & masking it off? image.jpeg image.jpeg

I'd like to keep the original on the car for authenticity but that sounds like a good ornament for the wall!

If you really want to remove the plate why not pop rivet it back on once finished? The bolts will not look same.
I would leave the VIN plate alone and mask it off.

The bolts will work but you will need to get access to the bottom of the catch so you can hold the nut while doing up the bolts so you may need to remove the grill?

I was thinking mainly out of cost as I don't have a rivet gun and will have to buy one but that's not a big deal, do you know where I can find the correct rivets and if they're the same size for all the plates on that panel? And the grill is already off at the moment anyway so that's not an issue I have enough tools to get access up there if needs be

If I can find them readily available that's what I'd like to do, can't seem to find them online anywhere though
