Looking for some 15" Wheels to go on the '89 Cabby?!?

Post

Want to try to keep her as original as possible…. has some BK Racing (MAS INT'L ITALY) wheels on at mo, with 195/45/16 tyres.

Having gone back to original non-power steering would like some 15" possibly true to 1989, with (max) 165 tyres, to ease up on the steering!!

Anyone have anything that may suit… happy to part ex existing wheels if of interest!!

Look forward to any responses…

Thanks in advance
Claire ;)

You must find the steering very heavy without the PAS, mainly when parking?🤔

If you are looking to buy wheels that were available back then it has to be BBS the only wheels recommended by VW back then.

A popular purchase is the Sportline wheels although they are clearly not the cheapest but shop around! 👍🏼

That's what I bought for mine, here's a quick example all though not the best to show the wheels off.

Claire ;)

Could I please ask why you have reverted to non-power steering ?
Am intrigued as we are desperately in need of it….or sell the car…just cannot imagine why get rid once fitted.

Have you considered 'P' Slots…either the proper Campaign ones or Mk2…?

Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

Just my opinion but, these cars are better without power steering.

Hey Guys,
The reason for reverting back to the non-PAS was that unfortunately, a 'bodge' job was done!
Upon purchasing the vehicle, unfortunately, when wanting to turn left, we went straight on!
Upon further examination, the steering rack column had been molested for want of a better word, so in purchasing a new uj joint we opted to go for the 'original' look and feel of the car.
Just takes you back to proper driving!! :P
The smaller wheels and tyres are therefore a must!

Cheers Mike… Nice BBS!!
