I'm looking to upgrade the braking system on the mk 1 cabby (89 model) and from what I've read a 9"servo and 22mm master cylinder can make all the difference.
Please let me know if anyone is selling or perhaps point me in the right way where I can buy from
Cheers guys

Brand new m/c can be had for under £30 on ebay, mine was £24 delivered.
Your best bet with the servos is to keep looking for "Mk2 golf breaking" on ebay until you find a 16v and drop the seller a message asking how much for the servo.
I bagged mine for £30 delivered, that way you'll probably get one for the amount they should be sold for an not inherit the Mk1 golf tax that goes with it

I was under the impression if you fitted the 16v servo you had no choice but to fit the bigger master cylinder as well??

Was yours in a good condition?

Do you have a link?
Did you sand and then paint? Any chance you could take some pictures. Really interested to see the end result. Thanks

I didnt spend a lot of time on it just flap wheeled and direct paint, mine was fairly rough so I knew it would be pitted anyway unless I got busy with filler but I didnt think it was worth it.
The servo is actually quite well hidden away by the time the reservoir is in place so unless shows are in mind I would worry to much about finish.
I'll try to take some this afternoon when I'm fitting the new suspension

Its in there somewhere I'm sure of it lol.
Looks to of lost some paint on the bottom side and was extremely hard to get into place without covering in scratches but either way it doesnt look terrible and it works.
I think my entire brake system cost less than £200 for servo, m/c, all new copper lines, braided hoses, handbrake cables, discs, pads, caliper paint, drums, shoes, springs, brake cylinders and brake reservoir
Works brilliantly and its pretty much all padgid parts

I managed to bag a mk2 servo and master cylinder. But I need the brake reservoir and the brake adaptors - do you know which ones?

Some have a take off for hydro clutch, some have the take up plugged from the factory and some didnt have one at all.
I cant even remember what mine came from now but I know the lupos and polo's had the same one.
Mine has a plugged take off, I just got the clearest one I could, mine is fitted backwards and cost a fiver

Also, what braided brake lines did you go for?
Did you put adaptors in for the brake servo?

I got the fronts cheap (£20 I think) and paid the full £30 for the rears.
No adapters were used anywhere on mine.
I did consider buying a shim plate to fit between the M/C and the servo because there are horror stories of the brakes gradually coming on and locking.
This is caused by the M/C not being compatible with the length of the rod inside the servo and a slim adapter 3-5mm would cure this but it wasnt needed in my case.
Apart from that I just bolted the rear anti lock valves on to the M/C and went from there with the fresh brake lines.
Fortunate enough to have the brake light switch on the pedal so it was a fairly simple job

I used VHT black for the servo purely because I had loads of it and figured that there may be enough heat in the engine bay to warrant it
