VW Golf GTI Mk1

GTI chassis - currently a rolling shell

Year of manufacture: 1984

Price: £3000 including 2.0 16v engine, windows, coilovers, BBS replica wheels, steering column, subframe, new fuel tank, new wishbones, new rear calipers (still in box) and loads of hard to find spares/parts. I am open to reasonable offers, but bear in mind how difficult it is to source a solid chassis and then there are a lot of new parts too, inc tank, rear calipers, wishbones, etc.

Happy to consider offers on chassis only

Location: North Bristol

I bought this project in August 2017 - It is a 3 door Mk1 GTI that was originally black. I did quite a bit of tidying up in the engine bay and epoxy primered the whole engine bay so it is ready for paint, or you can modify to how you want. I also cleaned up the floor inside, which was mainly removing the tar from the original insulation and primer. I did start a project thread so you can see what the car looks like and what i did to it. Albeit quite a short thread as the work stopped!

I put this up for sale previously and then following conversations with a couple of chaps on here, decided to keep plodding on. Nothing has changed in that time, so reality beacons.  2 small people, work and a house needing all remaining time, leaves no time for the Golf. Sadly.

The chassis is in very good condition. I am no body work expert, but guess it has had panels replaced, as i haven't found any rot or rust. Body is solid around all arches, around fuel filler, along chassis rails, inside and under spare wheel-well etc. It did have a sunroof that was professionally infilled (that was before i purchased the car)

I have a bootlid, a bonnet, a pair of doors and a pair of new wings to go with the car. The car is rolling on rear wheels and a brace at front as can be seen in photos, so it can be moved about fine. I also have the front struts, wishbones, ARB, steering column etc, albeit not fitted. I also have windows, window mechanisms, new fuel tank with filler neck and straps. The suspension is coilovers. I have a set of 15" BBS replica wheels. Not my choice, but got them with the car. They are the RS multi-spoke type (if that is the correct term). I also have loads of other parts and spares, but way too much to list. Its stored all over the house and garage, so i haven't got photos of everything! My wife loves it, at least i think that's what she said!

I have a 2.0 16V ABF engine from a Mk3 Golf, with loom and all ancillaries. I bought it running off a forum member about 18 months ago who removed the engine from a rotten chassis. It all looks good, but i haven't touched it in that time! A recurring theme here! It is stored in a dry garage, alongside the chassis. I was cutting insulation, so excuse all the dust and debris in photos

I would rather sell the whole package together. I will NOT sell any of the spares until the chassis is sold and that buyer gets first refusal on parts. If it doesn't sell, then it can sit and wait until the kids grow up and can help me! I am not desperate for the money, but could do with the space! I am not willing to give it away, so keep offers sensible!
