Description:
Offered for sale is my MK1 Rabbit LS.
The car has a 1.7 K-jet (injection motor) couple to a 3 speed auto box. Its had a euro size metering head fitted as the U.S one is a lot smaller and restrictive.
It has covered 76k original miles and runs great.
So the car was bought by a Portuguese man named Jose new back in 1981 in Rhode Island USA.
A short while after buying the car he returned to Portugal to live and took the car with him, he then owned the car for 33 years until his passing 3 years ago. A good friend of mine spotted the car and took a flight out to Portugal , payed the money and drove it home to England by himself relatively problem free - only burst a coolant pipe!!! He then owned the car for a couple years until I bought it from him.
The car is in its original colour of LE5B - lago blue, it's had paint over the years and although it isn't a show car it's clean and tidy.
The plus side of this car living in the warm climate of Southern Europe means its remained solid and hasn't ever been welded, with an exception of a chassis notch by Coltech Classics, common for a lowered mk1.
It's lowered on a cheap and cheerful set of coilovers BUT coupled with Coltech Classic raised top mounts it drives really really nice.
BBS RM012 2 piece split wheels - vw stamped
Bolt through opening quarters.
Original hand books supplied with the car.
6 weeks ago it received a brand new custom made power flow stainless exhaust system from the down pipe back.
The interior is in great condition with exception of a missing rear window winder which would have to be sourced from the states.
Day time running lights- look great.
Super rare car here in England , with this being the only series 2 5 door car in the country that I know of.
I have the car advertised at £7500 but i will listen to offers - with this in mind please don't take the micheal, these are thin on the ground over here, if you're looking for a rare mk1 in the uk , it doesn't get much rarer in my opinion…..
