What is a Golf Mk1 Bieber Cabriolet?

Bieber Cabriolet

I saw this ad on a Belgian website, although the car is in Holland:

Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet d'occasion à acheter sur AutoScout24

A search of the owners club site brings up… nothing.  Are there any of these cars in GB or do you know anything about them? 640x480.jpg

That is someone's idea of a good mod. It was a way to convert Tin Tops to verts. But now it is easier to buy a Vert unless you really want a Scirocco Vert.

I mean they were a company doing after market body Kits.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

They make aftermarket cabriolet kits, Sciroccos, Mk2 Golfs etc have been done using there kits.

scirocco bieber - Google Search

Not many Mk1 Golfs as VW already made a cabriolet..

There was a few companies/coach builders out there in the 70/80s make cabriolets for different manufactors like ford etc..

I just found another one of these cars for sale in the same ghastly colour.  It's a 60bhp and cheap - less than £2500.  Decide for yourself if it's good value.  bieber.jpg  Described as "The Golf is a 1981 model and was converted in 1991 to a Speedster Cabrio. It is ready for the road and there is a spare hood included."

Looking at the car it's one I would want to be in if the worst happens like a side impact or if you roll it…. Those A pillars are very thin…  O_o

I just found yet another of these odd cars on sale in Holland.  The good news is that it is painted red, and is supposed to have a 75bhp engine, and the bad news is that the images are.. fuzzy:

Some of Google's automated translations are funny.  For instance the Dutch word for "automatic gearbox" translates as "vending machine".  The description for this car translates as:
Unique and not often seen golf speedster mk1 (bieber conversion)
Car is super good totally no rust
Spacious one and a half year MOT inspection
Is a youngtimer
Roof is in poor cured condition
Did not do much with it because he only came out in good weather
It is included with brackets and attachment.
When you drive it, you only notice how unique it is. Guests with tuned cars slow down to look at it.
Rare model you must love to have something special.
2 vw keys
And golf ball still on the gear lever
All lights work horn works etc. etc.
I want something else a MK2 vr6 or a bmw
So exchange is also an option otherwise 3750 for sale
The value of those things exceeds 4000.
Nobody has it and that makes him valuable
He is now parked at work and is suspended because he only drives in good weather.
0619530887 give me a call if you want to look or exchange for what I am looking for
Corrado vr6 exchange is also allowed.
