Vinyl or mohair

Post

Hi guys its on my list to do but thought i would ask the experts what would you go for.

I'm not sure if i should have vinyl or mohair.

The car will be only used for occasional driving and i do have a cover for it so not sure if the more costly mohair will be worth the extra cash.

Look forward to your responses

Vinyl or mohair

Modern mohair is superior to vynil.
Mostly I’m fitting mohair these days .
Vynil has the tendency to shrink and crack over time.
A good quality Mohair looked after properly is the way to go.
Out of the 10 hoods I’ve got in stock 2 are white pvc special order.
And another is black pvc both these are in the OEM pebble grain finish.
There’s not much difference in prices and I’d be wary of cheap hoods.
I don’t use UK suppliers anymore because my understanding is they don’t use an equivalent to the OEM Material. It’s a Chinese copy and doesn’t stretch.
Things I’d be considering are how clean and good the headliner is and the centre section aka the interliner and padding.
These are mostly pass their sell by date and are falling apart.
Along with the rear window frame rusting out.
To change headliner it’s a strip down to bare frame.
Don’t pay any attention to any one who says you can fit the headliner with the hood in place.
You can’t.

My advice is visit Carl, bite the bullet and let him fit mohair for you.
Trust the process.

I want sure what to fit either and didn't want to take away the originality of the car but glad I went mohair I the end
