Re-upholstered drivers seat.

Post

I had my drivers seat repaired as the bolster had worn in the usual place and the bolster on the base had started to collapse and wear through. I got new bolsters and centre foam for the base from Newton Commercial and new black cloth from VWH. The upholsterer said the red cloth was reusable so that is original.
He found that the foam behind the cloth had deteriorated and gone sticky which made the base feel sort of lumpy and the red cloth was out of line. He also repaired the upper bolsters and made new foam and hessian bits for the centre of the back.
I got it back today and I'm very pleased with the result. Here's a few before and after pics.

looks great.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Excellent job and the fact that he was able to reuse the center panels is a great bonus because it keeps the authentic used look, it's original feel like a car seat that's been sat in and used for 30 odd years.

Very nice indeed! 😉 👍🏼

Thanks for the comments, I am very pleased with it and it is comfy even though I've only managed to sit in it in my living room so far! I've done a few other jobs on the car while the seat was out and as usual it's  opened a few cans of worms and taken loads longer than I had hoped! I'm working through it though and looking forward to getting the seat in and trying it out!
Hairyarse I had it repaired by a shop local to me in Devizes, Wilts. He came recommended by a few friends including one who had his Recaro seats for his 2.8i Capri repaired and another who had a soft top made for a Peugeot 304 convertible without a pattern or old soft top to go by. All in it probably cost me nearly £400 for one seat but feels like new to sit in.

Looks great and I like the stock look.

I've considered redoing all mine as you say the bolsters fail and sitting on metal frames arnt comfy.
