Possibly the most stressful 45 minutes of owning a Classic car. The MOT!

Post

I had the Golf MOT'd today and thankfully she passed again with no advisories ! He did point out that one of the rear wheel bearings had slightly more play than it should but, as it was such a well maintained car he would leave it for me to sort out!
I don't know why but to me it is one of the most worrying parts of owning any car, let alone a classic!
As it was such a nice day I then took it out into town where I got chatting to an English guy who now lives in Denver and owns an 83 Rabbit. Then got told by an another guy what a nice car it was and that he loved it. Then, just as I was leaving town another guy asked if I wanted to sell it and when I said no he asked me to see him first if I changed my mind. I then popped down to my parents and one of their neighbours complimented me on the car.
With all this in mind, I'm one happy chappy and love driving the car as much as any modern car and certainly don't want to sell it!

Mine goes in next few days, whilst everything has almost been replaced, and still got a few niggles on etc it's the worst 45mins of your life the anticipation, the moment of hearing!  Well done on the pass.

Eager to learn, willing to give back.

Thanks for that. Good luck with yours, I took mine to and independent MOT tester who does only MOT's. Try to find one who's a classic car enthusiast as they tend to be a bit more sensible and sympathetic to classics that only do low mileages etc. Try to avoid Kwikfit type places that do half price MOT's as they tend to be touting for work at the same time. It's worrying  but you need to get it MOT'd to find out if it needs anything doing.

They've introduced a new system in Austria.
The cost of the MOT goes up with every fault they find! 😕

Talk about a license to print money 💵.
Imagine if doctors are allowed to do that! 😱
