Motor magazine long term mk1 golf diesel

Back in the day.

Hi, do any of the long term enthusiasts recall Motor magazine running a mk1 diesel as part of their long term fleet back in the day?
Trying to pin a reference down to when they had a sticky gear shift, they subsequently linked it to a wheels off ground leap over a hump back bridge that they captured in a photo at the time.

Long term test after 50K miles?  I think that I put 50K miles on my ride after about 10 months of ownership, (work car) with many a 1400 mile round trip weekends from Illinois to Mobile Alabama and back…

I didn't have any issues at all until @ 140K when I had to change the Clutch out.  I don't need a Mag to tell me what I knew….by ownership.  Loved that little 81 Diesel…. Cheapest car I ever owned, and never had to tinker with.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks.
The request is less about how many miles you've put on yours, just hoping someone had the article to hand.
