Hi All, I was interested to know if Mk1 Tin Top models came with factory electric windows?. 2 or 4 door.

Not that I am aware of.
There were aftermarket kits that you could buy, that replaced the crank handles on your car, looked cheesy.
I thought about it on my 81 Diesel but decided against it.

I suspect that you could get the electric regulators out of a Cabriolet and the older Jettas for the rear that you could convert to your car windows or just power the fronts, and leave the cranks on the rear   There are a couple of holes that you have to Drill in the door to mount them, then you have to decide where you want to install the switches….

You can make your own controller using relays that can simplify things, the big issue is running wires to the motors.

Measure and mark the area to cut and drill.
See the blue marked area in the center of the door, ignore the markings for the Speaker pod lower right, and the tweeter upper right. This was from a how to convert a non-power window door to a 90'ish power window door.

You have to drill a 1/4 inch hole 1 1/4 inch from center to center above the top hole.

This is the only mod that you really have to do other than expand the area for the window stop on the regulator as the "NON" powered doors adjustment hole is off from the manual.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

There was a company called "electric life" back in the 80's that made a kit using bosch motors.
Good quality bit of kit if you can find one.

I had one of these kits but sold it years ago as I prefer my keep fit windows
