I would pull them out and look at the spray pattern and if they residually drip drip… drip.
I would also suggest a complete tune up with new plugs. NKG work really really well.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Is there's holes in the fuel filler neck and you are pouring petrol on the floor when filling up?
Might be worth looking in side the fuel tank via the panel underneath the rear seat.
That is some poor MPG, is the car running lumpy on start up or difficult to start?
When was the car last serviced, new spark plugs, HT leads, dissy cap , rotor arm etc.. ?

Have you had the mixture checked at a garage or info from last MOT if so do you know the CO?
Around 2% CO is what you want.

BUT it has a manual choke and I pulled on it a bit too much rupturing the diaphram.
this caused fuel to leak onto the manifold.
SO it failed.
new kit purchased and refitted diaphram and no probs now
although its in body shop I will be careful in future not to be too keen to choke it..
(but gti wouldnt have choke ?? would it)?
