Losing the will to live!!

 Starting to get a little frustrating
Im trying to get the engine plumbed in and wired up but there are so many missing parts nuts and bolts I'm at the point where im considering just pulling the lump out and fitting something thats already complete.
I seem to spend most of my time time looking for nuts and bolts and parts that i don't even know if i have.
Im thinking about pulling the lump and buying something that is already complete and throwing it in.

Is your car someone else's project which they started then gave up on?

VW did not use special nuts and bolts on most of the parts so they such be available.

You could also post up a picture on here and we can help…. Don't give up, it will be worth all the effort in the end.  

kind of yes, i bought it as stripped shell and a dozen boxes of bits.
 
 I have millions of nuts and bolts (used to own a workshop) but finding the most appropriate ones for the job means a 20 minute job takes eleventy million hours  

i was trying to fit the coolant pipes today but it turns out i have the wrong thermostat and housing plus the water pump inlet pipe (under the inlet fanimould) isn't in any of the boxes and i don't remember ever seeing it (now i know what it looks like). so now i have to try and source the parts before i can go any further.
 
 its just frustrating as its so close.

1.1 (GG code if i remember correctly?)
 

I may have one in my box of bits… I stripped an FA code, but I believe the FA code is just the earlier code and changed later to GG.

Also may have the Thermo housing thinking about it.

I feel your pain. I have a stripped 58 AH Sprite MK1 that was ready to be re-assembled back in 72.  All the bits and Pieces were wrapped in grease, and Wax Paper placed in brown paper bags labeled, and then placed in
boxes and Peach Baskets…. Then the parts were moved 40 miles, and placed in a barn, and moved about again.
I don't know the condition of any of the parts and when I asked my brother about it 10 years ago, he said, some are here, some at my other garage, and some in a basement of a house……  Good luck.

 Wow nightmare!  Sounds familiar though we shut my workshop so I could be a full time dad so had to move the golf and my minitruck and all their associated bits to the house and lockup's so I've got stuff everywhere and a 1 year old that takes up any time or energy I may have to get things done.
