Buying track/hill climb car

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but had a few vw golfs over the years. I'm looking at a golf that's for sale in the classifieds on here, it's a black/red tin top but it's a sprint/hill climb car. I know it's not a car to be turned back original but that's ok as I'm after a track car and occasionally on the road. I thought it was a lot of car and bits that are on it for the money but I would really appreciate the views of people with a lot more knowledge of these cars. Thank you in advance for any reply's and chuffed to be a member, Kev  F02ECB91-7AFE-408F-8226-588210F4C4E0.png

The lump sounds fun as does the box.
I would like to assume that the chassis would be fully sorted and all suspension and steering components.

Personally I don't think it's bad price wise when you consider the engine work it's had and it's nice that's its been the same owner for 10yrs but doesn't sound like the body is in great shape

I've seen patches of rust described as "light" when in reality it needs a full resell!!

Current rides:

2003 BMW 330d Manual Saloon Msport
1985 GTI cabriolet black edition (42k miles)
1999 Triumph Daytona 955i Post apocalyptic, rat, brat, scrambler, steam punk, cafe racer

Thanks for ur opinion, he has given me a lot of details on engine/gearbox which have recently been rebuilt which is peace of mind. My plan is to completely strip and have car re painted inside and out, but I can only assume shell  not to bad as it has a msa logbook which Aren't handed out unless car is semi up together. Going to veiw car once out of lockdown, thanks again
