HELP -Is this a Campaign Edition or not!!!???

I'm looking at a mk1 at the moment, and the seller says it's a campaign model, potentially pirreli Edition however I have my doubts.
The reg is the car is WCF 821Y. Now after researching the campaign edition it would appear the reg should be A reg or later?
The owner tells me is was brought into the county years ago by an ex forces person so that could explain the reg?
Also to note it does not have a sunroof, therefore this would be true if it were a Pirelli Edition?
See pic for the VIN number and this would appear to suggest it is a Campaign Edition?
Anyway to tell from the VIN if it's Pirelli Edition or not?

VW was just using all the extra bits left over before they end production of the Mk1 tintop to help sales before the newer Mk2 came out, they needed to shift all the Mk1s some how.

They are all actually just "all white" editions that VW couldn't sell so they changed a couple of bits (made them look more tacky) and gave it a stupid name in the hope rich daddies would by them for their spoilt daughters for xmas.
Campaign as said doesn't really make for a better vehicle, always purchase of the vehicles condition and originality not just its gimicky name

'Pirelli's' ran from April 1983 and chassis number DW448319.
They were produced in two versions, the main difference between them being one had the body coloured bumpers, spats and mirrors and the other didn't.
The standard GTI was still produced along side them until the end of production, so in effect in Germany at least you could choose between three versions of the GTI model in its last months.
Checking the boot / logbook stickers / data sheet will show the model 'Typ / Type' -
On standard GTI's it will state '171 334', and both versions of the 'Pirelli's' as '171 G34'.
In the 'Options' field of a 'Pirelli' version it will additionally show either 'W64' or 'W65'.
'W64' denotes a version without body painted parts and 'W65' is one with.
While your cars chassis number is after DW448319 that's only one part of confirming that it's a 'Pirelli', you'll also need to find out if it's been designated a 'Typ G34'.The standard GTI was still produced along side them until the end of production, so in effect in Germany at least you could choose between three versions of the GTI model in its last months.

This is interesting.
Built on the same day as my car, according to the data sticker. However, the build date (day two - or Tuesday - of week 35 1983) and the production number that day (0771) is 99 cars AFTER mine and mine is an EW chassis. In fact ALL cars produced at this time should have been EW cars, the model year '84 code (eg 1 August 1983 - 31 July 1984).
Besides my VIN plate, data stickers in the car and service book specifying EW, my certificate from VW backs up my car being an EW Chassis too.
However I've previously thought there may be some crossover and blurred lines between DW and EW cars for other markets, and this could be the case based on this car's data.
