I know its so hard to say without photos but due to personal circumstances i may be looking to move my tintop on (Buying a house) its a 1982 1.6 GTI. I have done loads of work over the last 12 months to get it road worthy and it will be going for an mot on Saturday. (brakes tyres outer and inner track rod ends, wheel bearings, Fuel pump. new fusebox and a whole load more Its rust free as far as i can see and a really good car i spent a lot of time looking before i purchased this one. Has been painted and tbh its s%#t needs a blow over but could be saved with wet sanding and polishing. Ill get some photos up shortly (Its the same car as my Profile Pic just wondering for some members advise on what i should be asking)

Without looking at it anywhere between 4 to 9k if overall tidy needing no more that 1k spending on it then my guess would be about 6k for it so long as it is not been previously crashed to death etc.

Mine is a 1980 1.6 and I value that about 8k maybe more in the right weather with the right buyer. Unfortunately that makes me only about break even so a long time before I sell it.

Good luck.

My Brother used to post a sign on his 89 Brookwood vette….at car shows….80,000.00

He was of the opinion if someone offered him 50-65K for it it was theirs….. as he bought it at a DEA auction for a lot less….

The most I have seen for totally rebuilt Cabriolets over here is @ 11K  usually they run between 2, and 4k and the 4k is really really pushing it.  It was great when I got mine totaled…as that pushed the average price above 4K….Settled for 5800. I have also seen really good gems go for 2-7 hundred….

What I have invested in mine I lost track of about 5 years ago, probably over 10-12K….by now…but then again it's my baby, and would I part with it…..Yep for the right price…and it only needs a re-spray and some minor dings taken out….

I did pay 1500usd for it when I bought it, and that is with a torn interior, torn top, blown head gasket, cracked manifold and a plethora of big dings and things like having to replace the left side door….. but it was a worthwhile project and only took about a year to get it to take number 2 at shows.

Y'all I guess love the prices of old things over there as the prices I have seen would be way out of the park over here.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Depends on Mileage, no of previous owners and colour as well.

For me a 180k car with 3 owners would / should be worth far more than an 80k car that had 9 owners

Also as much as I'm not a fan of red cars, red mk1's seem to get more than black or white.

How thick is your history folder?
