What to do when its all over??

Now my Golf is MOT'd and on the road my weekends of laying underneath it swearing from dawn till dusk for the last year are now over.

Im not really sure what to get up to next, I've got a few minor jobs to do like wire in my VDO's, fit weighted and short shift and new wishbones.
Maybe change the suspension for something softer.
Other than that its a retrim and replacement roof which I wont be doing anyway.

Its a bit like reaching the end of a series of A game of thrones when you thinking to yourself "what the hell am I going to watch next week"

So what now . . .

Try and get split wheels that fit  

Time to sell it on,  buy something else,  and start again…

And if that don’t work grow some balls and do the roof lining.

Thats a fair shout actually I do want a black roof lining or at least a clean white one.

I dont mind actually physically trying to fit a roof its just im scared of stumbling across a crumbling rear window frame and being stuffed.

I cant sell it, its my first Mk1 and appears I've been lucky enough to get quite a rare one with very low mileage.

Split rims is my main idea next, basicly I'm trying to avoid doing any jobs to the house as long as possible

I wouldn't worry too much.

It's a golf.

It'll break itself in the very near future and you can go back to swearing at it again.

Get in it and Drive it, low mileage has a negative air displacement ratio…. enjoy the drive, let people nod at how can you drive that thing.  Give them other folks something to talk about.

When I am feeling a little down, I get in it, turn the tunes up and drive it like I stole it…. Long twisty turns going up a mountain are so much fun…..

See that is the problem you have low mileage so you have to drive it till it breaks, so you can fix it.

Have fun getting some miles on it, not driving a car to keep the miles down is like not nailing your girlfriend to save her for the next chap…..

I dont actually have much time to drive it and when I do its weather dependant a bit.

Im not actively trying to keep the miles low but they will never rocket up anyway

I am going to get a softer suspension set up asap though so I feel happier about driving it longer distances. I'd like to see the annual gathering this year ideally

See, you've got lots to do, and enjoy your daughters company, they soon grow up!
I know about the springs, I think mine needs raising with softer springs and harder dampers. I like my spine the length it is and as most of the rural roads where I live appear to have suffered aerial bombing, comfort is in short supply. (although it looks great and is reasonably comfortable on the motorway).
