Wet lower a pillar - Help

The carpet by the bonnet pull and all the carpet on that side was wet.
My car is outside unfortunately and I have a car cover in it so a bit confused. Checked the scuttle and this is dry with clear drains although with the slope of the drive would leave water in the scuttle.
Is the a common place to look as all sound deadening in the scuttle and don’t want to hack it out for the sake of it but need to fix to save both the fuse box and dreaded rust.
Thanks.

Wet lower a pillar - Help
I thought that also but the wet is too high on the a pillar and not all across the footwell so hopefully not.
I put the screw in myself after the respray so could be that if I f’d it up. May be a warm day job with the carpet pulled back and a hose pipe running over the car. Keep the ideas coming though as I hate looking for water leaks.

After a frantic carpet removal, a wet vac and some extensive counselling I can now talk about it but it will stay with me forever lol

Clean rain Drains are a must.
Check the windscreen gaskets for leaks and ill fitting.
Check door fitment, and rubber grommets for proper fitment.
Another thing is that if you have a/c, then check the floor drain.

heater matrix is easy in a golf, you should try an audi 80, its common for them to go and you have to remove the whole dash to replace it. you would notice the coolant loss if its the matrix though

As above check the bulkhead drains aren't blocked, rain tray is present and correct. Another one to watch for is if the aerial wire is routed via the drain tubes water can follow it in to the cabin and drip onto the fuse board and carpet.
One both MK1 and 2s I have run the windscreen seal is almost useless. Shove kitchen roll down between the dash top and window, esp the corners and see if it gets wet when it rain.

Ariel is that there needs to be a drip loop installed this prevents direct water migration into the inner frame.
