Todays stupid idea and the issues along the way

Post

So . . .

I decided to take my clocks out today so I could replace my lcd screen, then I had the great idea to upgrade all the bulbs

Then the rest of the dash bulbs

Then realised a few bits of the dash were missing and adding to the rattling

Then I thought I'd take the kneebar off as some of the vinyl had peeled back

Then decided to wire my VDO'S up finally

I ended up with this . . .

So from the top, 286 bulbs can be upgraded from 1.2w to 2.0w versions from ebay easy enough but the cigarette lighter socket was broken, I can find replacement but only in 1.2w form which defeats the object a bit, anyone know of any upgrades??

Knee bar will be sorted with wood glue and some clamps tomorrow

VDO'S now all work and wired in but the T-piece I purchased for the temp gauge so I could have both MFA and VDO readings fouls on the dizzy

Its the only one I could find that was M10 all round, what is everyone else using?

Oh and also my head unit was missing the rubber bung off the back where it sits in the dash, probably the main cause of my dash rattling to be honest

But have no idea what its actually called or where to find one, ebay has failed me

For the rubber bung, go to a good hardware store and pick up a rubber stopper or a Laboratory Supply store, and you can get different sized stoppers drilled for you to but whittle it down.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Might be worth nipping around to Halfords or your local car stereo specialist for the rubber bit.

They tend to come with the radio rather than a fitting kit

borednow exactly what I thought, managed to get one for free from a local ICE shop, bit skinny but nothing black tape cant fatten up.

Only issue left the the sender T-piece.

Until yesterday I didnt know that M10 and 1/8npt are prettt much the same so I do have new possibilities just need to check for clearance

Loads of people have already done this so it must be possible on an 8v

It definitely is.

I found a little 3 way adapter, unfortunately the guy selling them doesn't seem to have them anymore but he has others
