I'm thinking about machining some bits at my work on the CNC milling machines. Are there any MK1 Golf parts that are a struggle to come by on the web? Let me know and i'll have a look at starting to machine some bits and make them accessible to find.
Ok, you asked for it.
I have replaced all my bits for metal.
The replacement water outlet flanges for Digifant
They are plastic time bombs.
That is the front CTS and Black water temp flange.
The waterpump t-stat cover, and the left side plastic flange….
As I said, after replacing the plastic parts many times I finally converted to metal ones off of earlier golfs.
I know for a fact that the US source of Metal T-Stat covers for the Cabriolet is NLA… Never to be returned again….
I would imagine the cost of machining the CTS flange would be pricey, so that is why I got one off a earlier Golf with no Oil cooler, and converted my CTS sensor to the 16V version….
I do know of replacement flanges for the 16v that are about 40 bucks…..
But I was going through the plastic flanges about once every 7-8 months and at 25 a pop, I figure that I spent 50 dollars a year (both cabbies) for 10 years just for that item… so changing it saved me in the long run.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
