TAX FREE

Post

So just to let you know this was dead EASY……

My car is taxed on direct debit every month £23 ish… and has a valid MOT

I simply walked to the post office, wrote HISTORIC in the tax class on the blue section of the V5.
Handed it to the nice lady who handed me back 12 months tax receipt and half of my V5.
They send the V5 to the DVLA and I get a new Historic Class version.

I come home and cancelled by Direct Debit.

Including the 5 minute each way walk to the post office this took me about 20 minutes in total.

A lot of the remaining Golfs will become able to be taxed FOC under the rolling 40 year rule in the coming years.
Anything Registered before 1st January 1981 is currently accepted.

TAX FREE

I have done this on other historic vehicles, as described very straightforward!

Did mine this morning, cars may 1980.
Handed them the relevant paperwork with the "historic" words written in, separated the v5, showed insurance etc and got a nice receipt for it.

Also remember you can go mot exempt as well for those cars of historic age.
So from now I can go park it on the road and aggravate the neighbours……:)

TAX FREE

I’ve heard a lot of cabby owners saying that their car is nearly 30 so no tax etc due.
That’s going to be a shocker lol..

Same here, no tax, no MOT, so just servicing costs and £72 a year for insurance. "|Cheap" motoring.
