Suspension recommendation please

Post

Hi guys, I recently bought a 91 cab and the car is really bouncy. Suspension seems knackered and rubs on the back. I've been looking at the JOM Blue Line Coilover Kit. I want to change my wheels at some point so don't want to get an expensive kit.

Are these kits any good? I've got snowflakes with 15mm spacers on the back.

Thanks

Personally from experience, the factory standard set up is perfect. Great handling, comfortable ride.

Coil over stuff improves stance and looks, but compromises ride and handling and leads to tyres rubbing wheel arches and other associated headaches.

I never had an issues with OEM ride, less bone jarring, more cushy.  I found over the years that OEM with a strut bar on the front (upper) gives great ride, good stability in the twisties.  Now that is that you need to replace things to get it back to oem, as in the control arm bushes, ball joints as well as tie-rods inners, and outers.  On my 81 Golf with the  one piece  inner rod I used the Cabriolet 2 piece inner/and outer. make like easier for the folks that align the rides.

Don't skimp on the struts, good inserts, and mounts are also key, there are a few tricks for keeping the front mounts from wearing out to quick.  I will link to it, I used the 3m window weld and that worked great but you have to do it about a week in advance to allow the urethane to harden.  There is a better trick by using a o-ring from a Opel or Mercedes exhaust, that is quicker and just as effective.

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Blue line are rubbish.

If you buy bc coilovers, imo they ride better than stock, are body adjustable for the ride height, and 30 point dampening.

My mk1's have all ridden and handled better on bc's, than stock. But then I guess that depends on how hard you drive.
