Post

Noticed my car sounded a bit off when I turned it off after a drive last week.. various things going on & not been able to look at it til today.. water fairly low, squeezing the top hose seemed fine.. then… noticed a leak at the top by the hose on the rad… noooooo! Good timing with Bristol Volksfest next weekend!! Just paid out £650 on my daily too.. thanks a bunch! - full VW service, rear pads, front lower control bushes then knocked the rear track control arm! New one + labour & error light reset! Jeez.. why do they say about raining & pouring?? It is what it is… mailed Mark Carter, non available on Euro Car Parts, will try others if no joy..

I had a look at Euro car parts as another sale week but they only seem to stock the smaller radiator for Carb cars but list it under Gti, Oh the joys of Euro listing the wrong part!

I know what you mean about newer VW as my wifes Touran has just needed a new clutch and DMF so we are now £940 lighter!

Wow.. that's silly money!! Gone are the days where they check your cars doors for grease etc & other minor things.. do what they need to & that's it… they told me a time to pick my car up.. went at the time, 5 minutes later, it wasn't complete.. 'sorry we haven't washed or hoovered it yet, do you wish to wait?' I said no thanks I need to get back to work.. 25 minutes later my car was ready!! Why didn't they wash & hoover it..? Poor customer service now… at a silly price.. you could buy the parts & oil for a 'full service' for about £90 yet it cost me £316!! All for the sake of FVWSH hey…

I don't see the benefit in a VW service history as we had a newish Polo which had a full VW history when we bought it so I thought carry on with getting the book stamped at VW, the service which VW did was not very good, it went in 3 times over 3 years and each time there was something not done right, like they changed the brake fluid as I asked and they left it with bits floating in the brake fluid reservoir and they only blead it from the front calliper so I blend through some more fluid from a rear brake and it was still coming out dark coloured till I got through some new fluid, I spoke to VW customer service and they said that's how they do it!
We had a full service book and I asked for a new book to carry on with the stamps and they wanted to charge me £8 for a new book after paying £300 for intermediate service and brake fluid change that was the last time I used VW for a service.

Other things… not using a new sump bolt, nail in tyre they missed, wheels not removed from the car when having a service.

I now try and avoid VW dealers as not overly impressed with the price and service they offer and on the older cars we had it made not a lot difference in the selling price. (10 year old car when we sold it)

Can you tell I'm fussy and don't really like taking my cars to garages as they don't seem to look after and do the work to the standard I would try to achieve.

lol unbelievable.. my sentiments pretty much… do a job & that's it.. had a snigger to myself where they had a bouquet of flowers for new buyers.. seemed very false to me & where the customer service ends…

Don't get me started an Fargin daffodil Plastic parts (I HATE THEM.)

I have seen totally aluminum Radiators for Sale for mk1's now.  for about the same as a new Plastic/aluminum one.  I have had 2 radiators in my Golf/Cabriolet break.  The 81 Diesel split up the tank from the Bolts at the bottom, and that stupid c-clip at the top.  The second was a broken water outlet…

On my 81, I did get a Brass and Copper radiator for my 81 that lasted for 19 years  that I owned it.

If the Totally Aluminum ones that are avail now I would of bought them over another plastic/aluminum one.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?
