Mk6 bench seats in front of a mk1 ??

Just wondering if anyone has managed to fit a bench seat out of a later car into the front of a 3 door tintop. I like the idea of the arm rest and can move the handbrake cable thats solved but wondering if anyone has made a frame or any sort to make it work or am i wasting time. Cheers
