Mike golf Cabrio Richard RichardHall - whats your opinions on this…   what was the production years of the Triple White? i thought it was between 83-85?? not sure personally.. also looking at the seats, they weren't for the Triple White were they?? not sure about the side skirts either… or 96 minutes past 12 on the LED.. being picky.. :lol:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Convertible-GTi-/201878383179?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

Lovely car but no it's not one of the original triple whites, they had white seats with a black pinstripe and 13" white tarantula wheels, 83/84. This is a quartet just with all the white options ticked but beautiful condition, again as I have said before about similar cars - a lot of money but if it's exactly what you want and you want to keep it then maybe it's worth paying for you could wait for ever to see something like it turn up again.

the skirts are off a bodykit, think they are Zender ones to use with out Zender flared arches,.

trying to find out a bit, apparently the '83's had a single light grille with tarantula's & the '84's had double light grille with the Zandvoorts…

Wow, I think someone would need their head checking personally if they paid that kind of price for a cabby.

I don't see it worth anywhere near that kind of cash imo, and surely it's a very limited market for something like that?

each to his/her own though, but I can't see it fetching over 10k, even to the right buyer.

Pretty much as Richard said.
With the Quartet range there were a possible of 64 different combinations and if you went white, white, white that's pretty much what you got.

That said the car stands strong on its own and I don't see the history counting for much, although it's interesting.
If it stated Sir David Jason in the reg doc, one owner, now that would have some impact on the value.

As for the value, well with the right marketing at the right auction I could see that make 10k without a problem.
You only need two women to fall in love with it and the husbands have big cheque books and away you go!
(That's how we sold them in the first place, a Quattro Turbo for him and one of these for her to keep her quiet)  ;)

They've put it on eBay with a high price just to see if they get any bits and why not because that's exactly what I'd do!

Yep.. same as mine.. almost without the mats, added side skirts - not keen on those.. & the time lol… with that mileage & originality it could fetch good money for sure - look at the Sportline that went for £16k+ 2 years back!! The 64 choice option brochure below..

Pics this evening picking my boy up..

When I see that brochure of the colour combinations it sends cold shivers down my spine.  O_o
Funny thing is that's the first time I've seen one in 30 years.  :ocf_emoticons__wheelchair:

What a pain in the rear that idea was!  :banghead:

As I think I've said before the customer had to sign off on the combo and give us a substantial deposit before we'd order it from the factory.

We would try to advise them of what might work or not but at the end of the day it was their choice.

But when they came to look at there special car, special order you could see within seconds whether it was going out the door or not!

Now we would have to pay for the car up front on these so if they didn't like it they couldn't just walk away from the contract.

We weren't the bad guys and would try to find a reasonable solution for both but we were registered for VAT and not Charity!

I'd say for every 5 sold we would be stuck with 1 or 2.
Of course we'd hold the deposit which might have been £3,000 which allowed us to give a buyer a mega deal providing they were colour blind! 👍

Another trade secret given away. 😉

Hey Mike.. sorry for the late reply.. the server in work is saying some 403 error when trying to access the Mk1 Owners club website! Doing my head in.. anyway.. wow I'm quite shocked how people reacted when their cars turned up!! They ordered them lol.. & you had to advise them too, that's mad - joys in of a car salesman hey lol.. so they would be out of pocket - just walk away as they didn't want the car?? personally I'd love to have the ££ to buy a brand new car..

Absolute silliness

There a ravage leather on eBay for 8k ish lovely car, but not 9k nice

Sportline for 12k, get a grip 😂

There's a G reg clipper with 116k on the clock, it's not that nice and they are asking 12k for it 😂😂

These cars are a victim of their own success and popularity as greedy people go looking for them

But There's still way too many of them around to make the prices anything like these dreamers are asking

Have they not worked out that you only see Mk1 cabby from May to September 😂😂😂
