Not sure but you might try writing to the DVLC but I don't that they will give you anymore!
Here's what they write at the bottom of the page:
If you think that the details on the vehicle record are incorrect please write to:
CCG
DVLA
Swansea
SA99 1BA
Might be worth at shot!!!
The website I used was:
https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk
So my guess is that's all there willing to give publicly.
Anyhow, good luck with your search!

I brought it home with me for Christmas so that why it was registered in Jan 98..
When I got it, it had Koni adjustable dampening suspension , ATS Cup polished wheels, an Early Wolfsburg 3 spoke leather steering wheel. Oh, and it also had a Shrick Fast road Cam!
I loved it!!
I sold it to a Freind who at the time dealt in MK1's, he converted it to RHD.

It's changed a bit since you had it then. It had a respray and body is in great nick. Its been put onto twin 45s and had a engine rebuild that still needs to be ran in. It's still on adjustable coil overs and now has p slots alloys. The interior is a red check.
Regards
Richard.
