Good Afternoon,
Just renewed my insurance with Lancaster Insurance at £245 which is not bad for my area, just found out that they can’t offer me a any club member discount which I thought was strange oh well insured for another 12 months hopefully I’ll get to use it a lot more this year .

Do I have a 1980 1.6GTI. I am 44 and pay £160 per year fully comp with Grove and Dean. They auto renew each year and the price has not really changed for 3 years. It is a classic car policy with less than 5k miles allowed each year. I live near Birmingham so indeed enough car hackers and thieves for it to be representative for all I guess 😟
Let's see what everyone else pays.
And yes I know tax is more than insurance but that goes free in about 2 years for me woohoo

£290 with Hagerty, but that's for my Clipper and my Mk1 Escort with modifications, both garaged. It's the damn Clipper that bangs my premium as it's "newer" car at 1992.

Wow I wouldn’t mind paying £250, I pay £96 a month for a Scirocco R, couldn’t get any quotes with modifications so I’ve had to leave it as no mods.

Policy includes everything inc legal cover, recovery, windscreen, courtesy car
Fully comp £115 for the year That's ridiculous but i didn't argue
You know your getting older when car tax is more than your insurance is

I have just changed to Lancaster £140 fully comp agreed value £16000 limited to 3k miles per year, 1983 Campaign 2.1 TSR engine, Coil overs etc.
They beat my renewal with Hagerty by £50.
Its the only time being old helps you!

Just swapped both of mine to Heritage, limited mileage, agreed value £190 inc legal assistance.
Was with Carol Nash but they wanted nearly £80 extra for 'optional' breakdown cover that I didn't want or require (in AA), this was @33% of the total! I asked 3 or 4 times but they were adamant that it was mandatory for classic policies???? I'm sure there's some consumer law or EU ruling that says that sellers can't do that sort of dodgy practice?
